[ad_1]

what to know

  • It had been dreary outside during my Friday morning commute. We’ll be dry by midday, but clouds will linger into Saturday
  • Sunday will bring wind and rain, which may turn to snow Sunday night into Monday morning; areas north and west of the city are expected to see up to 3 inches of rain, but may not see much at all
  • Once this system exits, it will feel more like January, with temperatures falling back into the 30s at least through the middle of next week; February begins with near-normal temperatures

Storm Team 4 is tracking the chance of snow early next week as temperatures drop to normal for this time of year, but it looks like it may still be too warm for much accumulation.

After a few dreary days, the next storm will soon arrive. Showers are expected on Saturday night, followed by rain and gusty winds on Sunday. A change to snow is possible Sunday night as cold air moves in from the back of the system.

Accumulation near New York City appears to be minimal, while accumulations in excess of 3 inches are possible north and west of I-287.

How much snow do we have?

Earlier this month, New York City’s Central Park recorded an inch of snow for the first time in nearly two years. Is the upcoming weekend a sign of more to come? At this point, one thing seems certain: It will feel more like January.

Temperatures fell back into the mid-30s on Monday and are expected to remain there until at least the middle of next week.
